According to the law of Bangladesh, marriage of a girl under 21 years with a girl under 18 is called child marriage. The Child Marriage Act of 1929 refers to marriage between boys and girls. Besides, if both the bride and groom are under the age of marriage according to the marriage law, if the age of the girl is below 18 years or the age of the boy is below 18 years, it will also be identified as black marriage in the eyes of the law.
According to the Prevention of Child Marriage Act of 1929-
-> Child marriage is a punishable offense under the law
-> All those associated with this marriage, including parents, will be punished
-> Child marriage is a voidable marriage.
If a man over the age of 21 or a woman above 18 years of age, if he has a child marriage agreement, he may be punished with imprisonment for up to 1 month or a fine of 1000 taka or both.
